About the DWTSGame
The DWTSGame is a completely fan-made online reproduction of the popular ABC show, Dancing With The Stars. While the live show features C-F List celebrities each season, our games aim to please and ALWAYS casts A-List celebrities in an attempt to get a following.
In Season 1 of our game, we featured 14 stars... all of which were currently very talked about at the time. Stars such as: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, Meg Ryan, Nick Nolte, Chris Carmack, Ana Beatriz Barros, and Michael Phelps. The show was eventually won by actress Kate Bosworth and Mark Ballas. The season was not a commercial success and received very few votes, however returned for a second season.
In Season 2, we again featured 14 stars like Claire Holt, Mark Zuckerberg, Chesley Sullenberger, Nadya Suleman, Leonardo DiCaprio, Cedric the Entertainer, and Vanna White. The season was won by actual Dancing with the Stars contestant (season 11, Fall 2010) Kurt Warner and DWTSGame partner Chelsie Hightower. Votes continued to decline and still the show was renewed.
Season 3 came around in mid 2009. This season featured Taylor Lautner, Kris Allen, Kiptyn Locke, Rod and Patti Blagojevich, Alanis Morrisette, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, Regis Philbin, Fran Drescher and another DWTS contestant (also season 11, Fall 2010) Bristol Palin, who online did much better than she would've eventually done in reality. The season garnered no votes at all during the six weeks it was active and was therefore cancelled indefinitely. The season remains online, uncompleted, in week 6. The season will possibly stay uncompleted, and the season's stars unused in future seasons.
After a 13 month long hiatus from the internet, the DWTSGame returned in December 2010, this time taking the effective step of creating a Twitter account (@dwtsgame) which in turn was responsible for the major success of Season 27. This season featured an array of 18 stars like Jessica Alba, Ke$ha, Will Smith, Adam Levine, Mila Kunis, Celine Dion, Larry Platt, Whitney Houston, and Kendall Schmidt, who ultimately won the season with Kendra Andrews, sister of real life Dancing with the Stars finalist, Erin Andrews (season 10, Spring 2010). The season was a huge success and was the start of the game's re-boot.
The following season, which started 9 days after the previous season, was Season 45. The show's format changed as a fourth judge, Valerie Hashburntar (@vallyh on twitter) was added. She contributed a score out of 10 to each dance, making each dance out of 40 instead of the regular 30. The amount of stars returned to 14 couples and this season did what the actual show's spring seasons do (waiting 2 weeks before its first elimination). This season featured a few big-name stars like Justin Bieber, Cindy Crawford, Julie Andrews, Mary J. Blige, Joanna Garcia, and James Earl Jones. The win, however, went to Miss Teen USA 2010 Kamie Crawford and Brandon Bryant. Votes, however, went down and in an attempt to re-gain votes...
Returned with a gigantic new season, Season 20. This season was exponentially larger than any previous game before it, as it was 18 weeks long (show wise, in real life was only 2 months long) and featured 30 celebrities, most of who were from either the music or film genre. The show featured Johnny Depp, Christian Bale, all 6 of the 'F.R.I.E.N.D.S.' stars, George Clooney, Howard Stern, Meredith Vieira, Zoe Saldana, Amy Adams, and Nicole Kidman. Jennifer Aniston and Tony Dovolani captured the win. Votes started large, as anticipated, but steadily declined and stayed at a low number, but showed enough success to move on to the next season.
Season 4 began on July 27th, 2011. This season, we revamped our website (mainly by switching servers) and hired new hosts, both former DWTSGame contestants. Kendall Schmidt (singer, Season 27 winner) and Brittany Brannon (Miss Arizona USA 2011, Season 20 runner-up) will switch between hosting and co-hosting duties. The season stars Sandra Bullock, Hugh Hefner, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Cher, Oprah, Lady Gaga, Reese Witherspoon, Rihanna, Lil Wayne, Lee Meriwether, Logan Lerman, and Katy Perry. Sandra Bullock and Derek Hough eventually captured the mirrorball trophy. Votes surprisingly took a big increase this season and became the most successful season of the DWTSGame yet.
In early November, Season 5 premiered. This season featured stars such as Beyonce, Betty White, Julia Roberts, Eminem, Denzel Washington, Emma Stone, Bob Saget, Clint Eastwood and Gabrielle Giffords. Elena Grinenko guest judged the season premier week. In the end, actress and underdog Julia Roberts and Maksim Chmerkovskiy won the season! Votes remained strong, and the show again returned!
Then, when that season ended in early 2012, Season 6 began! This season features stars like Christina Applegate, P!nk, Kelly Rowland, Joan Rivers, Katherine Heigl, Matthew Morrison, Justin Timberlake, and Bill Clinton. Another change was made when Natalie Sanders, Elena Grinenko, and Valerie Hashburntar were all made judges for the season, becoming the show's first ever all female judge's panel, and returning the total possible judges points down to 30 instead of 40.
In early May 2012, Season 7 will begin, featuring the most unexpected stars ever! Tune in!
